Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
